Hildren Canady Obituary

Deacon Hildren Canady, affectionately known as “Hill”, was born on July 28, 1945 in Cleveland, AR to the late Johnnie and Jaretha (Meeks) Canady.  Both parents; three brothers, Harold, Allen and Perry Canady; two sisters, Earnestine Grant and Marilyn Canady; and one grandson, Master Donovan Anthony Williams preceded him in death.

Hill was educated in the Arkansas public school system.  After leaving Arkansas, he travelled and relocated to Niles, Michigan.  There he found and married his soul mate and the love of his life, Clardine Giger.  Together, they have five children.

After living in several cities around the Great Lakes Area, Hill decided to settle his family in Kansas City, Missouri.   He spent twenty-two years working for the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA). He was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local #1287.

Hill accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and grew up in New Mt. Zion Church. For the past sixteen years, he has been a faithful member of Faith Is Deliverance Missionary Baptist Church.  Here, he has served as the head of the Deacon Board and on the Transportation Ministry.

Hill loved his family!  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He was very active in the lives of his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed supporting The KC Chiefs and The KC Royals.  He never met a stranger and his home was always open. Everyone could always count on him for good food and a fun time because he loved cooking and hosting barbecues and gatherings.  Whether it was visiting and sending food to the sick or calling to recognize people’s special occasions, he always made people feel important and like they were the only one he cared about.  He had a kind, generous spirit and was loved by all who knew him.

Deacon Canady departed from this earthly life to his heavenly home on October 30, 2019 at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 52 years, Clardine Canady, of the home; sons, Tracy Bullock of Los Angeles, CA and Donny Canady of Grandview, MO; daughters, Jacqueline Ford of Kansas City, MO, Sandra (Rev. David) Woods and Lisa (Darron) Williams of Grandview, MO.  Sixteen grandchildren, Donny; John, Jr.; Rochelle; David, III; Crystal; Roderick; Natasha; Lakesha; Devin; Shanise; Emmett; Darrien; Allen; Alexandria; and Danielle. Eleven great-grandchildren, Nevaeh; Jamall; D’Naiya; Zyonna; Iliana; John; Marshal; Adam; Devin, Jr.; Zharia; and Elijah.  One Godson, Dominique Giles. Five sisters, Almarie (Edward) Smith of Niles, MI; Ora Lee Henson and Rosemary (Neal) Payne of Cleveland, AR; Bettye Funderburke of Kansas City, MO; and Terrie Banks of Orlando, FL; one Aunt, Loyse McClunie of Kansas City, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
