Carl Lester Davidson Jr., 72, was born on May 3, 1947 in Austin, Texas to Carl Davidson, Sr. and Beverly Carter. He went home to be with the Lord on June 1, 2019.
Carl graduated from John S. Dawson High School in St. Francisville Louisiana in 1964. He furthered his education at Southern University in Baton Rouge, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1969. Carl then joined the Army in 1970 and served for 6 years. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter Badge and the Expert Badge. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and was Honorably discharged from Fort Leavenworth in 1976.
Carl was employed as a police officer for many years as a member of the Atchison Police Department. He loved children and frequently volunteered as a DJ for school dances and would also make the National Guard Armory accessible for local teenagers to roller skate. He was also employed as a Recreational Director at the Atchison Youth Center from which he retired.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, Tara McShane of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Crystal Gomez (Enrique “Rick”) of Houston, Texas; a son Carl Davidson III of Atchison, Kansas; his grandchildren, Damesia McShane, Tyshon Armstrong and Darrion McShane all of Baton Rouge, Chandler Applequist and Kadeisha Norris of Missouri, Braeton and Kalen Davidson, Christian Harris all of Kansas and Aiden Clark of Maryland; great-grandchildren, Oriana and Iyonna Armstrong and Aidyn Alexander all of Baton Rouge; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents Carl Davidson Sr. and Beverly Phlegm, a brother Rochelle “Butch” Davidson, and a great granddaughter Nydia McShane.
